Hill’s is committed to delivering high quality therapeutic nutrition. To ensure consistent availability of Prescription Diet® z/d® Feline dry, this product has undergone a minor formulation change. This hydrolyzed chicken liver and rice based food will now contain added rice protein concentrate and coconut oil. With this change, we improved palatability with cats preferring this product 2 to 1 over Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP dry cat food.
This formulation change resulted in a small increase in the caloric density, an increase in the protein and a decrease in fat level. Comparisons of the ingredient lists, nutrient profiles and calories per cup have been included on the back of this letter. A seven day transition to the new formulation is recommended for cats prone to gastrointestinal upset or who have selective appetites.
This new formulation will be available starting at the end of July 2019. The bags containing the new formulation can be identified by the “New Formula & Kibble” burst at the top left corner of the bag. The new kibble will have a disc shape and will be slightly lighter in color than the old formulation.
