There is lots of confusion on VIN regarding Medtronic’s electrosurgery offering. The great news is that they have just extended service on the 2nd generation Forcetriad generator that includes the most recent software updates by Medtronic through 2025 that are purchased through authorized Veterinary distributors. The 2nd generation Forcetriad is ideal for Animal Health customers because it allows Ligasure instrument reuse as you know, comes with a 1 year warranty and has been refurbished by Medtronic. The 3rd generation continues to only be available in human medicine which does not allow instrument reuse at this time. To clarify, all of the Ligasure instruments in the catalog below can be reused with the 2nd generation Forcetriad that is only available in Animal Health.
· The Ligasure technology has a 95% probability of a burst pressure greater than 3x normal systolic blood pressure
· The Ligasure portion of the Forcetriad has 7mm FDA approval
· The Ligasure portion of the generator informs the operator the seal cycle in complete or not complete
· The Forcetriad also has monopolar and standard bipolar capability
