ProHeart Now Unrefrigerated

We are excited to announce that ProHeart will no longer require cold chain shipping and storage. This change will take place in mid-August. This means that ProHeart 6 and ProHeart 12 will not need to be refrigerated when it is shipped to practices. Instead, it will be delivered the same way all other non-refrigerated products are shipped. In addition, ProHeart products can now be stored on the shelf at the practice instead of in the refrigerator, freeing up space for other products (e.g., vaccines) and allowing a reduction in shipping wastes for eco-friendlier product delivery. The only time ProHeart products need to be kept in the refrigerator is after the microspheres vial has been opened and constituted.

Key Messages:

  • With the introduction of ProHeart 12, the Zoetis Quality Team has reviewed available data, recently completed studies,1,2 and determined there is no need to refrigerate ProHeart when it is shipped and stored prior to constitution.  The only time products need to be refrigerated is after it has been constituted.
  • There has been no change to the formulation of the product or the product label
  • Shipping:
    • When ProHeart products are delivered, they will be in a box the same way other non-refrigerated products are shipped
    • Customers will now be able to order product on Friday and have it shipped out the same day
  • Storing:
    • ProHeart can be stored on the shelf with other parasiticide products.  This allows customers to utilize the valuable space in their refrigerator for other products.
    • ProHeart must be refrigerated after it is opened and constituted
